I’m in the market for a high end digital compact, and am pretty happy to find that Ricoh have released a digital model of their fantastic GR range. Rather than developing just another digital compact, Ricoh have designed a camera with the philosophy of the original GR. The GR Digital is a nod to the old skool, with full manual controls, a high quality fixed lens and a slim, unassuming matt black finish and a heavy, quality build. It shoots 8 meg RAW files with plenty of engineering trickery to ensure quality images. And this all comes in at just over 300 pounds, making it, as the GR before it, a working class rival to Leica. I think I might just have found my camera!
